Mommy & Me classes are for ages 18 months - 3 years and provides parents with information/techniques to help them orient their child to the water in a safe and comfortable manner and supervise water activities. There are 3 skill levels that work on everything from water adjustment to swim lesson preparation. Completing Mommy & Me levels will give your child a leg up when starting lessons. Parent/guardian is required to be in the water with the child.

Mommy & Me consists of 4, 30 minute classes, either M/W or T/Th for two weeks for $85, located at the Lake Wilmore Recreation Center. Fridays will be used for makeups in the case of inclement weather.

There are 3 skill levels for Mommy & Me. If you are unsure of where to start, we recommend Level 1. If your child participated in Mommy & Me with Tiger Shark previously, sign them up for the same level as last time:

• Level 1: This level is an introduction to water that focuses on building comfort in the water, basic techniques for holding your child, and empowering you as the guardian with water safety. We recommend starting here if you or your child have not received formal water instruction before.

• Level 2: Your child MUST understand and willingly perform kicking and scooping movements. At this level, we are still building comfort, but expanding on skills in the water including: face in the water, floating, etc. This is the last step before practicing independent swimming.

• Level 3: This final level is for those who are looking to start big kid swim lessons! Your child MUST willingly put their face in the water on command. The goal of this level is to prepare for swim lessons by working on independent swimming and skills with the support of the guardian and instructors. Completing this level will give your child a leg up on starting swim lessons, as they will have already mastered many of the introductory skills.
